Company History

OUR COMPANY

Nepal’s principal natural resources are its mountain topography and abundant supply of white water. The mountainous terrain ranging from the Himalayan range in the North to the plains of Terai in the South provide the ideal gradient for the generation of hydroelectricity. Nepal has the potential to generate hydroelectricity not only for domestic consumption but also for export to neighbouring countries.

A preliminary estimate has indicated that over 40,000 MW of hydroelectricity could be generated from numerous technically and economically feasible power-generation sites in the country. However, to date only about two percent of this immense potential has been tapped into. Although, the history of production of hydroelectricity in Nepal dates back to 1911, when the Pharping station was installed, it was only recently, the need to develop more hydroelectric projects was felt and a number of projects have been launched since.

Green Life Hydropower Ltd. plans to develop renewable and sustainable energy through our portfolio of hydropower projects. We are intent on providing a clean way to generate power to increase the security of Nepal’s energy supply. In addition, our projects create jobs and revenue for rural Nepali families and also provide part of the answer to the growing problems arising from global warming.

Green Life Hydropower Ltd. was established in 2009 to develop, construct and operate power projects in Nepal. The power crisis that has been rampant for the past decade in the country has crippled lives and businesses alike and as a goal Green Life Hydropower Ltd. will contribute to alleviating the power situation in the country.
